Special thanks to
the research of Sandy Klenk Kenna, (73), and Community Affairs Director,
Dennis St. John. Sandy had the idea to find the explanation, and Dennis
actually found the Arms and description in a trash can in the Girl's
Gym!
That Gym is now known as the Upper Gym.
The Chief
Has the Anvil and Hammer symbolic of John Haddon, a Blacksmith, whose name
Haddon Township is derived.

The Fesse
The Lion Passant is indicative of the fact that Haddon Township, (first
called Newton Township), was originally part of Gloucester County.
The Duke of Gloucester bears the Lion Passant from the Royal Arms of
England as part of his Arms. The Elephant head is indicative of
Camden County, the head taken from the Arms of the Marquis Camden. Haddon
Twp later became part of Camden County, as did the surrounding
communities.

The Base
Contains an open book and torch, these two charges are symbolic of
the educational values of the new school. They are at the bottom to
symbolize the foundation of a superior education. |
The Crest
The Phoenix rising from the flames to live again. The new school
has risen because of the need of better educational facilities; the
students of the Township now have their own school instead of being
dependent on surrounding communities.
The classic mantling representing the protective cloak that education
provides. |
The Motto Ribbon
It boldly proclaims the school name - Haddon Township High School |
